Exxon-Mobil Can Take a Simply-Supported Beam and Shove It...

So, yeah. The first batch of homework- "salvo," if you will- got finished over the weekend. Slowly. With great pain. The fact that the TV was on while I was working probably didn't help. Neither did the fact that we had to do all the structures problems twice: once for a cantilevered beam, once for a simply-supported beam. Engineers will know what that means. And it took forever. Blaaaah. There's still a smidge due Wednesday, and next week's is already assigned. So the semester is now fully underway.

In unrelated news, a report released this morning says that Exxon-Mobil posted a record profit for any U.S. company last quarter. Which was, if I recall, when gas prices were going through the post-hurricane roof and everyone was going completely apeshit over it. (Cough, cough, GOUGING!!!, cough, cough) Seems to be another case of the few getting fat off the blood of the many. And in a just world, someone would take a simply-supported beam and bust a few heads over this. Of course, with Curious George and Big Dick running things, that will never happen. Sigh.
